Homework



Reading Logs- Students should be reading 20 minutes per day for a total of 100 minutes per week.Any reading may include: rereads of the weekly stories, New York Studies Weekly Newspapers, literature circle books, Scholastic News Family Reads, or listening to a book on tape. Signed reading logs with a minimum of 100 minutes is due Mondays. 
*Please sign and total the minutes for the previous week on the top of the following Monday in the planner. 
**Please note that if a child misses a day, they may make up time on another day or the weekend

Weekly Classwork

Tuesday Independent work-  Spelling Practice, Vocabulary, reader's response questions (in packets), Literature Circle Reading

Literature Circle-Students are given silent reading time during the week and independent work time to complete written scripts. Reading assignment should be done by Thursdays evening and written assignments are due Fridays. 


Wednesday Independent work-  Scholastic News listen/read, Quiz Whiz, Literature Circle
  Most students finish Independent Work, however, lesson schedules, etc. may require a student to take these home. However, completion in-class should be encouraged.




* Please note that Literature Circles may be on a Thursday for 4 day weeks.
** If you know your child is going to be absent on Friday for an appointment, they should plan ahead and complete their assignment ahead of time. Their contribution is important to the group.

Independent Research-Optional

Math- Homework is similar to the "Problem Set" in Packet. Students should make honest attempts. They will be going over the homework and making corrections with blue pens. They will be given full credit if all corrections are made on the homework.
